We are building our own home in Indiana and I need to know if any one knows approximately how much it will cost to have an architect draw our house plans? The home is approximately 2000 sqft ranch nothing to fancy with the home and I do have a rough draft of what I want the floor plan to look like. Any help please????

A typical architect will charge about 6% of the construction cost. Finding someone else would probably be better. Like an architect that does it on the side outside of office hours. This is how I make extra money. I am an architect, and I do it on the side for extra cash above my normal pay. By doing it this way, I (like most) charge a lot less because there are no overhead costs.
Email me if you have any questions.

Go to the yellowpages, look for an architect, and ask for bids….tell them exactly what you typed here… you should get a pretty clear ballpark figure.

I would think you should lay-out as many details as possible and ask them follow your design as close as they can. Let the architect figure out how many nails, bolts, and screws you’ll need. They’re good at that.

There are a few things you can do.
Order plans on-line and take them to your local building department and ask them what they will require to get a building permit. You are building the house yourself? You mean you are acting as a General Contractor and hiring all the subcontractor trades? If you do that you will need an Architect to revise the plans to make sure all local codes are covered. It is easy.
Good luck
