You do use alt codes… Whn using alt codes you hold alt, and type the designated nuber on your number pad, here are some alt codes Ä ALT+0196
ä ALT+0228
Ö ALT+0214
ö ALT+0246
Ü ALT+0220
ü ALT+0252
ß ALT+0223
€ ALT+0128

I’m guessing you mean Eszetts and Umlauts? I find it’s easiest to get them on Microsoft Word (by inserting a symbol – go to the “Insert” menu, click “Symbol” and then find it) and then copy and paste them.
